The best way to find out what we really need is to
get rid of what we don’t.

What does “Clear Space” mean?

Creating “Clear Space” is much more than just opening up physical space so you can tread a path to and fro without tripping. “Clear Space” applies to both the mind and body — to both mental and physical space. When you do the work to clear your physical space, you also clear your mind. When you live only with what you actually love, need and use, you dissipate that sense of being overwhelmed and replace it with a sense of calm and openness.

Why hire me?

I’ve encountered a lot of different needs - organizational challenges are quite wide ranging - and haven’t failed yet. I’ve worked with those struggling through loss of a close relationship, a messy divorce, sudden/unexpected move, challenging health complications and more, and have helped them come out on the other side feeling more calm and grounded. I’ve also worked with individuals who simply hit a place in their lives where they felt overwhelmed by their living space and realized they needed someone to help them implement meaningful change.

What’s it like to work with me?

I’ve been told I’m energetic, thoughtful, empathetic and extremely productive. I work hard to “find the funny” in what can sometimes feel like a bit of a daunting task. I am also an enthusiastic personal cheerleader and will move the process along at your pace. If it takes you an hour to debate the merits of Aunt Edna’s china set, so be it.

What does this sort of endeavor cost?

Excellent question. It depends on the scope of your project and how quickly you make decisions. After our initial conversation, if you decide we are a good working fit, I will produce a “not-to-exceed” quote based on your project, or we can discuss my hourly rate. I do have a three-hour minimum and require payment by check or cash upon the completion of your project.

What are my working hours?

I generally work M-F, 9am-3pm, but can be flexible. I will work weekends, but at an increased rate, as I do have a wonderful husband and two young sons I love spending time with.

How far will I travel?

I am located in Cumberland County, Maine, and am happy to travel. For jobs over one hour away, we can either work via video conference, or I will book a stay in accommodations close to your location. Please contact me to discuss your particular situation in detail, so we can develop a plan that feels good to you.

Will I make you throw things out?

No, no and no. I will not make you part with anything you want to keep. I will be an unbiased 3rd-party voice of reason and ask you compelling questions that may lead you to change your mind on items. (“What will you do in the future with four rusted cheese graters?”) Your belongings, your space, your call.

Will I be horrified by your mess?

Your “mess” is why I am here to help. There is no horror in the equation. I am here to make you feel comfortable sharing whatever situation you find yourself in and will work steadily towards creating an interior and/or process that is user-friendly, flexible and accommodates real life, no matter the size and scope of your personal belongings.

What if a client gets emotional?

Decluttering and organizing can be very emotional, and I understand this to the fullest. The entire process is 100% confidential; if you need to cry it out at some point, the only ones who will know will be you, me and the sadly watered-down cup of coffee in front of you.

Why do I love this job so much?

The truth: I originally got into this business because I love organizing and transforming space. I stay in this business because I love people; I love all my clients. I find it incredibly rewarding to be able to meet people exactly where they are in their lives and figure out the kind of help they need to allow positive transformation to occur.

And, because, well, sometimes I get to throw out high-fives when clients get as excited as I do about the work we undertake together.
